Hm. You sound a little jaded. Of course there are always competing demands on our time as developers. I'm not suggesting that you take a vacation and don't ship code at all.

But I am suggesting you take agency. There is room to make the culture better where you work. To push back.

And then there are moments to fight your battles and others where thoughtful code doesn't matter so much. Learning that line is also part of a senior engineer's job.
