I'm glad you're striving for excellence. You won't get any shade from me there!

I believe you're a great engineer and a team player. I appreciate your curiosity, teamwork, and patience with your fellow engineers. I'm sure not every ##x engineer has bad habits (even though we all have our weaknesses).

I'm willing to say that perhaps it's because you're going so fast that mistakes, bad habits, or unintended consequences are multiplied by 10x or 100x. You don't have to be a bad person for that to be the case.

At the end of the day, it's the team that deals with the consequences. And I'm much more interested in how far the team can go than any one developer.

I'll update the article to pull some of my punches. You're right that striving for excellence and being curious are valuable traits. I guess we just disagree on whether the 10x-100x archetype is something someone should strive for.
