The use of data for advertiser targeting has to be one of the biggest gray areas in data science. At what point do you stop being a smart marketer and start being simply manipulative?

We’ve seen the echo chamber of social media end up playing out these same themes with Trump in the US, Marine Le Pen’s close race in France, Brexit in the UK, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, and Conte/populism in Italy. I think you’re right that this may be the new normal. At least until we can figure out how to fight it.
